The BMRA Annual Dinner

Jo & Lucy attended this years BMRA Annual Dinner at The Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.

Following a busy networking afternoon, over 470 guests sat down to a sumptuous dinner, while being entertained by table magicians, enthralled by tales of lifetime achievements and entreated to give large to this year’s President’s Charity, The World Land Trust.

In her opening address, BMRA Board President Susie Burrage, reminded members that while we still face uncertain times, the metals recycling industry is enjoying somewhat of a resurgence.

This year’s Lifetime Achievement Awards went to John Adam of J R Adam & Sons and Tony Bird OBE of the Bird Group. John was surprised by the award and told those present that he felt ‘humbled to be receiving such recognition in a room full of distinguished colleagues more deserving than he’.

Tony also thanked the room for the award and went on to call for ‘all grades of scrap metal to be removed from the waste category’. Each of the recipients were presented with an engraved decanter presented by Susie Burrage, who is also Managing Director of Recycled Products Ltd.

The British Metals Recycling Association (BMRA) is the trade association representing the £7 billion UK metal recycling sector – a globally competitive industry supplying environmentally-friendly raw material to metals manufacturers. To find out more, click here
